Hello! When I began writing this week’s newsletter, I didn’t realize I had so much material on kitchens that I could make a Netflix special about it. But here I am hitting my Substack length limit, so I’ll make a Part 2 for next week, and we can talk dirty about my new spice drawer and the importance of under the sink liners. Okay into the kitchen we go!
One of my biggest moments this year was moving into our new house. At the heart of this home is a very dreamy kitchen with all the kitchen bells and whistles I could hope for. A pot filler! New appliances! An oversized waterfall island! So much storage! Ah a fresh start! I am a happy happy person! You will notice we still don’t have counter stools or any of our finishing touches. The stools are still in transit and I like to take my time with details. In time! But there are some foundational things I’d like to talk about today.
Being transient for about 3 years leading up to this dream come true, I have lived in 4 different kitchens in 3 years, ranging in a variety of sizes and conditions. And I have approached each kitchen the same way, aiming for function, quality, and efficiency. Here’s my foundation and philosophy for a fresh start in any and every kitchen, from first apartment to forever home to vacation home.
