I’m not here today with any breaking news. It’s no surprise that when your life expands, your to-do list proportionally expands. You start a new school year, you hold down a job, you have kids, you buy a home, you get a dog. Any combination of these things are huge life swings that are accompanied by 1 year to 30 years of ongoing tasks. This part is fact, the science of it all.
The spirit of it all, though, is that when the “work” never feels complete, the grind feels daunting, discouraging, and overwhelming.
Lately that’s been me. I’ll start an average day with my baseline of daily tasks. But as the day wears on, for every one item I check off, it seems like 10 new items appear. I’m doing things, but the list is getting longer, how?! Then I’m putting out surprise fires (which were not even on my list wtf!) and by sunset, I feel like I’ve gotten hit by a bus and I also feel like I’ve accomplished absolutely nothing! 🎶 The mommy hit by the bus goes wah wah wahhhhhhhhh!🎶
So here’s what I’ve been doing about it.
