I am the mom who loves a crib. Not everyone does a crib or loves a crib, but me - I LOVVVVVE. A. CRIB. We had our baby in a crib starting at 9 weeks and I wanted to keep the crib going until my daughter was 3 1/2, or 18 if we’re being completely honest. But around 2 1/2, deep in the trenches of potty training, my baby had other ideas. She decided to start ripping her overnight diaper off as I was tucking her in for bedtime. We hadn’t started the overnight potty training stage yet, but here she was stating the facts: diapers are itchy, gross, and uncomfortable, fuck this, I’m out. Irrefutable.
Well, damn. The crib mattress was already at its lowest possible setting, practically on the floor at this point. And the thought of my little arms reaching over those rails to clean up a wet bed at 2 a.m. sounded absolutely horrific.
So I felt we needed to start overnight potty training AND take these bars off the crib, tackling both missions immediately and simultaneously.
But you all know I’m a DJ who needs a smooth transition. So here’s what I did, starting with my biggest life hack.
