How I Built Systems at Home That Actually Keep Working

For several years, I was operating in survival mode. Life was coming in fast, with many new moving parts. I was rallying hard to organize, but despite my best and most tireless, I didn’t seem to ever feel caught up.

Over time I chipped away at the ever elusive goal - to feel like I have my all my shit together, possibly all at the same time?

And over time I’ve realized that effectively managing a household is as much about flexibility as it is discipline. It’s like building a car with your best working parts, and then leaving the driver’s seat empty for life/the universe/Jesus to take the wheel. The framework must be both sturdy and malleable to accommodate things that are out of my control - unforeseen weather, sickness, damages, costs, etc.

This considered, I set up a few household systems that I felt we could sustain through any weather. These things tether us to each other and our home.
