Today’s topic is the hospital bag. Crucial to prepare, very difficult task for a first timer mom. As you know, my main goal is always efficiency, so this list is going to be reflective of that.
Not gonna lie, you’re gonna want to listen to this one more than read it because I have a lot of explaining to do!
First, some vitals, because every birth is different:
When did I prepare the bag? 34 weeks
When did I go into labor? 39 weeks and 1 day
Type of birth? Hospital birth
Birth plan? Vaginal, medicated
Total number of nights at the hospital? 3 nights
With all of that disclosed, my hospital bag worked perfect for me! I cannot speak for scheduled C-Sections or home births.
And now here’s a little collage I made of some of my labor moments.
My water broke on a Sunday Halloween morning so I was sort of just putzing around the house with a robot head on, eating an apple and baking some biscuits while football was on in the background. My doula suggested I start heading in the direction of the hospital at a leisurely pace. My contractions were still 45 minutes apart at that point and since my hospital bag was prepared weeks in advance, all was calm. I finished baking my biscuits and then went for a cute walk before getting into the car.
Now that I’ve set the scene for you, let’s jump into the bag.
